Vibe-Coded to Funded-Looking: One Screen, Before and After

Take a vibe coded app that looks sketchy and it can read as a funded startup in an afternoon. Not by rebuilding it. By changing the handful of decisions that carry the whole trust signal. Here is a walk through one screen, before and after.

Before

The hero has the purple gradient. The headline says "The smartest way to manage your work." Three feature cards sit below with equal weight and emoji icons. The dashboard behind the signup is a blank grid. There is no face, no number, no proof. Every one of those is a default the model chose. The founder never made a call. It reads as a weekend project because, visually, it is one.

After

Five decisions, in order, the same five from design without a designer:

• The gradient becomes one flat deep green. Instantly it looks decided.
• The headline becomes "Track propane for food trucks so you never run dry mid service." Now a stranger knows exactly what it is and who it is for.
• The three equal cards become one hero benefit with a real product screenshot, and the rest demoted.
• The blank dashboard gets an empty state: "Your first truck will show here" and a button.
• One line of proof goes under the fold: "Used by 40 trucks across Central Florida."

Same code. Same founder. No designer hired. The app now clears the fifty millisecond trust read instead of failing it.

Why this works and a redesign does not

A full redesign is expensive and unnecessary. You are not trying to make it beautiful. You are trying to make it decided, because slop is unmade decisions and trust is the visible presence of a human choice. Five choices is the difference between "looks AI generated" and "looks like they raised a round."
